The interior ministers of Guatemala and Mexico said Monday they have no evidence that terrorists are in either country, or that terror groups have ever allied with Central American street gangs known as Maras. The ministers of both countries spoke to reporters after a meeting planned to strengthen first-alert reporting of drug, crime, migratory or other problems in the two nations’ border areas. “In Guatemala’s case, there has been no indication of the presence of anybody linked to terrorism, or that they could have tried to reach the United States,” said Guatemala’s Carlos Vielmann.
