Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived in Rome to drum up support for a renewed international drive in the fight against terrorism just days after his own country was hammered by terrorist bombs in the Sinai. Mubarak held talks with his Italian counterpart Carlo Azeglio Ciampi shortly after his arrival for a two-day visit to Rome which will be followed up with talks with President Jacques Chirac in Paris on Tuesday. Mubarak, whose country was rocked by twin suicide bombings targeting two Red Sea resorts last Thursday, told reporters after his luncheon meeting with Ciampi that the attacks “brought into focus the sheer depth of human unity in the campaign agaisnt terrorism”.
