Jorge Zorreguieta, father of Argentine-born Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, for the first time was named in a criminal complaint involving human rights abuses during the 1976-83 military dictatorship. Zorreguieta, deputy secretary of agriculture during the military regime, was one of several former officials accused of the abduction and disappearance of a female employee of the official National Institute of Agricultural Technology, or INTA. The victims’ sons, Nicolas and Guido Prividera, filed the criminal complaint Tuesday with Judge Rodolfo Canicoba Corral, court sources told EFE. Zorreguieta, who currently heads the Argentine Sugar Growers Association, was unable to attend his daughter’s 2002 wedding to Crown Prince Willem because of the controversy sparked in the Netherlands over his links to the dictatorship.
