Gen. Augusto Pinochet underwent lengthy court-ordered psychiatric and neurological tests Thursday to determine whether he is fit to stand trial for the disappearance of 25 leftist dissidents during his 1973-90 dictatorship. Court officials said blood samples were also taken from the 88-year-old former ruler to determine whether his medications influence his mental condition or behavior. Three doctors and two nurses were at Pinochet’s suburban Santiago mansion for more than two hours.
