The official sent by the Kremlin to negotiate with hostage takers in Beslan earlier this month warned Tuesday that violence could explode after the traditional 40-day mourning period for the victims of the Sept. 1 school attack that could cause the Caucasus region of southern Russia to “go up in flames.” “I have received information that there are certain powers in North Ossetia who want and are calling for the settling of scores with the Ingush as soon as the 40 days pass,” said the official, Ruslan Aushev, the former president of Ingushetia, which borders North Ossetia.
