The network of alleged Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi has been weakened by relentless strikes and rising internecine strife, a senior US military official said. “The strikes that we have continued over the last many, many weeks have led to some successes and inroads in eroding and degrading the Zarqawi network and we have gotten not only some of his associates but we have made inroads into the emerging leadership within his organisation,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
