Senate Confirms Porter Goss as New U.S. Spy Chief

The Senate confirmed Porter Goss as the new CIA director on Wednesday amid a clamor for intelligence reform, constant terrorism threats and a persistent insurgency in Iraq. The Senate voted 77-17 to approve the nomination. The votes against President Bush’s pick for spy chief all came from Democrats.
