The Colombian government plans to confiscate some 150,000 hectares (370,370 acres) of illegal crops currently in the hands of drug traffickers and straw men, Agriculture Minister Carlos Gustavo Cano said. The minister unveiled the plan Tuesday, a day after President Alvaro Uribe vowed to expropriate fields of coca and poppy plants from which cocaine and heroin, respectively, are derived.
