Colombia’s vice president acknowledged he was wrong for suggesting that three slain union leaders were tied to Colombia’s rebels, after prosecutors rejected the army’s version of events and charged three soldiers in the killings. An acting Army commander had claimed the men were Marxist guerrillas slain in a shootout with the military. Col. Jairo Roman Mejia, also said sticks of dynamite and detonation wires were found on their bodies after the Aug. 5 fighting. Full Story
