The governor of Baghdad has escaped unhurt from an apparent assassination attempt in the Iraqi capital. Reports say gunmen blew up a bomb by the road and shot at Governor Ali al-Haidri’s convoy as it passed through the Hay al-Adel area of west Baghdad. Two civilians were killed in the blast and several of his bodyguards were wounded. Militants have regularly tried to assassinate senior Iraqi officials.Full Story
