Washington has delivered to the Colombian government an additional $250 million for the country’s fight against the illegal drug trade and leftist guerrillas, the U.S. embassy here said Tuesday. A document crediting the funds was signed Monday by U.S. Ambassador to Bogota William B. Wood, and Colombian Foreign Minister Carolina Barco, the embassy said in a press release. The funds, in addition to aiding joint anti-drug efforts, “represent an acknowledgement of Colombia’s policy of defense and democratic security and U.S. willingness to assist to Colombia in its war against terrorism,” the statement reads.
