Spain hopes hitch in Basques' extradition is temporary
Spain said Friday it hopes a hitch in the extradition from Mexico of six ETA members considered terrorists by Madrid is only temporary, and that the Basque radicals will eventually be sent to their homeland for trial. Deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega referred to the case of six alleged operatives of the terrorist group whose extradition had been approved by the Mexican government but was held up this week by a federal judge. The Mexican government “gave the green light on the extradition, the first judge approved it, and now an appeal has provisionally delayed the handover for six months,” Fernandez de la Vega said.
