Congress took its first official step toward reorganization of its intelligence and homeland security operations yesterday as Senate leaders tapped 22 of the chamber’s most powerful members to undertake the highly sensitive task of shaking up the established order on Capitol Hill. Aides to Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) said the leaders hope to have recommendations dealing with reforms proposed by the Sept. 11 commission ready for action before Congress adjourns in early October. Full Story
