No cause ruled out in Russian plane crashes: US

No possible cause has been ruled out in two near-simultaneous plane crashes in Russia that left 89 people dead, the US State Department said. “At this point, obviously I’d refer you to the Russians,” said deputy spokesman Adam Ereli. “But our understanding is, there is no cause that has been ruled in or no cause that has been ruled out. “There’s a lot of speculation about what caused these crashes. An investigation is underway,” he added. US Secretary of State Colin Powell called Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov early Wednesday “to express his condolences and those of the United States for this loss,” Ereli said. “Our first thought, obviously, goes to the victims and their families.”Full Story
