The Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communication has been implicated in a scam involving the issuing of licenses to criminal airlines operating in the Middle East, police disclosed past Saturday. Inspector General of Police, Brima Acha Kamara said investigations have revealed that personnel in the Civil Aviation Unit have fraudulently registered five airlines engaged in drug trafficking, money laundering and terrorism.
