Police shot and killed an armed man who had taken a woman hostage and wounded another in a dramatic rush-hour stand-off in the Canadian city of Toronto. It followed a shooting at about 0800 (1200 GMT), in which a man shot a woman in the head at a downtown food court. The hostage was grabbed off the street as the gunman was chased by police.
