Feds blame narcos

Federal and state prosecutors in Baja California say it was gunmen from the powerful Arellano Félix drug cartel who killed the editor of the crusading weekly newspaper Zeta earlier this summer. Editor Francisco Ortiz, who wrote a series of articles on the Arellano organization and published photos of its members, was shot to death in the California border city of Tijuana on June 22 in front of his children. Baja California Attorney General Antonio Martínez and José Luis Vasconcelos, the federal assistant attorney general in charge of organized crime, said at a news conference Wednesday in Tijuana that gunmen working for the Arellanos murdered the editor.
