A statement released Sunday in the name of an al-Qaida-linked group said the Italian government has “dug its grave by its own hands” after it ignored a warning to withdraw its troops from Iraq by Aug. 15. An Aug. 7 statement signed by the same group, the Abu-Hafs al-Masri Brigades, warned Italy to withdraw troops from Iraq by Aug. 15 or it would bring “unbearable hell” to Italians.
