A Palestinian bomber detonated explosives 200 yards from a busy checkpoint at the northern edge of Jerusalem on Wednesday, killing two Palestinian passers-by and wounding about 20 people, including 6 Israeli border police officers, 3 of them seriously.The last attack inside Israel was on July 11, when a bomb planted next to a bus stop in Tel Aviv killed an Israeli soldier and wounded five other people. The last suicide bombing inside Israel was in mid-March, in the southern port city of Ashdod; it killed 10 Israelis. Israeli officials said that an hour before the late afternoon explosion, they had hard intelligence that at least one Palestinian bomber was headed toward Jerusalem.
