A renegade right-wing militia said Thursday it’s prepared to enter a government-secured zone and eventually disarm, bowing to an ultimatum delivered by President Alvaro Uribe. The Self Defense Forces of Casanare, known as the ACC, has been involved in heavy fighting with a rival outlawed paramilitary group in the eastern Casanare region. The fighting has killed dozens of people and force hundreds from their homes in the past month. “If tomorrow the state grants us a temporary location zone in Casanare that we agree to, we will immediately start the relocation process to establish the necessary conditions for an eventual demobilization,” the group’s chief, Martin Llanos, said in a statement.
