Britain resisted calls to match America’s high state of alert after warnings that al Qaeda bombers might strike and played down concerns Tuesday of an immediate security threat. The opposition Conservative Party demanded that Prime Minister Tony Blair detail the terror threat to Britain after the United States Monday increased security and raised the nation’s alert to “High.” The U.S. warning was prompted by Pakistan’s capture of a suspected al Qaeda computer expert which yielded documents, computers, surveillance reports and sketches.
