Palestinian police chief Ghazi Jabali was briefly detained by militants south of Gaza City in a protest which militant sources said was against corruption in the Palestinian Authority. Jabali was freed after being held for about four hours in the Breij refugee camp by members of the Jenin Martyrs’ Brigades, who charged he was “one of the corrupt members in the Palestinian Authority.” The group is an offshoot of the larger Popular Resistance Committees, whose members are mainly former activists of Arafat’s mainstream Fatah movement.
