Authorities have seized from a Hempfield Township home an undisclosed amount of materials and chemicals that can be used to make explosive devices, state police at Greensburg reported Monday night. The Westmoreland County Hazmat Team and Allegheny County Bomb Squad responded to the residence, which sits on a hill overlooking Route 119 near Crabtree, just south of the border with Salem Township. The investigation, which began as early as noon yesterday, continued throughout the day, with authorities and firefighters still on scene at 10:30 p.m. Police said they had a suspect, but it was unclear whether an arrest had been made late last night.
