Detainee will challenge U.S. tribunals

The military lawyer for a man being held at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base said she will “challenge the lawful makeup” of planned U.S. tribunals of terrorism suspects. Additionally, Lt. Col. Sharon Schaeffer, who is representing Ibrahim Ahmed al Qosi, said she will challenge the jurisdiction of the first U.S. military tribunals held in the war on terrorism. Schaeffer said last week’s rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court “changed in a big way” the legal options faced by her client, al Qosi, a Sudanese man who was captured in Pakistan and charged with conspiracy to commit violence against the United States.Full Story
