More than $1.1 million in new federal grants will be helping Collin County law enforcement officials fight crime and terrorist attacks at home. Homeland security and law enforcement terrorism prevention grants will help Collin County and the cities of Allen, McKinney and Plano to purchase new equipment. The four agencies received $709,236 in state homeland security grants. Homeland security grants are aimed at improving intelligence, warning communication systems and facility security. The 2004 Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program’s $201,332 will fund planning, intelligence distribution networks, equipment and training. Full Story
