A Norwegian peacekeeper died from a rocket attack on his convoy in the Afghan capital, as insurgents show little sign of letting up in the approach to September elections. Three rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) convoy on Sunday night as it patrolled along Jalalabad road, the main highway leading into Kabul from the east, ISAF spokesman Major Rita LePage said. “One Norwegian soldier was killed and another Norwegian soldier was slightly injured,” LePage said on Monday. He was the first Norwegian soldier to be killed in Afghanistan. Two Norwegian soldiers were injured in May last year when their vehicle was attacked by a sniper on the Shomali Plain north of Kabul.
