CANADA warned today of a “credible terrorist threat” to western interests in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province, and advised its citizens to avoid the area. Ottawa followed the recent lead of the United States and Australia in warning of possible threats in various parts of Indonesia. “There is a credible terrorist threat to western interests in South Sulawesi Province,” the Canadian Foreign Ministry said in a travel advisory. “Canadians should not travel to this area until further notice. Canadians already in this area should depart.” In line with advice by other governments to citizens in Indonesia, the advisory warned Canadians they should consider avoiding hotels, clubs, restaurants, bars, schools and places of worship.
