US construction and engineering giant Bechtel said it was continuing work on most of the 50 US government projects on which it holds contracts in Iraq, despite security concerns raised by escalating violence. “Recent security developments in Iraq have raised many questions about the impact on our work for USAID to repair vital elements of the country’s infrastructure,” the San Francisco-based company said in a statement. “We are working on approximately 50 projects.
