The alleged mastermind of a Burkina Faso coup plot has admitted to receiving money from Ivory Coast. Captain Luther Ouali told a military that a close aide of Ivory Coast’s President Laurent Gbagbo had given him 50m CFA francs ($93,000). He admitted plotting to seize power but said the money was to help him set up a transport business. Ivory Coast denies any involvement in the alleged coup and has accused Burkina Faso of backing Ivorian rebels. Burkina Faso says it has no links with the rebels who control northern Ivory Coast and accuse the Ivory Coast security forces and Mr Gbagbo’s supporters of mistreating its many citizens living there.
