Gunmen ambushed a van driven by the governor of Oaxaca state, wounding him, an aide and two bodyguards, police said Thursday. Gov. Jose Murat was attacked on the outskirts of the state capital, Oaxaca City, government spokesman Carlos Velasco said. The assailants fled. Police made no arrests and had no motive in the shooting. The attack occurred about 220 miles southeast of Mexico City. Federal highway police commander Alberto Vera said six to eight assailants armed with Kalashnikov rifles ambushed the governor’s van.
