A federal judge has delayed sentencing six Cubans convicted of hijacking a passenger plane to Florida so that a key witness who apparently defected can be questioned about his testimony. U.S. District James Lawrence King ordered prosecutors to ask Cuban flight attendant Abilio Hernandez Garcia whether he wished to change his testimony or meet with the defense. Hernandez Garcia traveled from Cuba to Key West with other crewmembers to testify against the six Cubans convicted on federal hijacking charges Dec. 11. Only Hernandez Garcia did not return to the island, slipping out of a hotel and away from Cuban government representatives the day after the trial ended. Full Story
