Istanbul bombing suspects charged

Charges have been issued against 69 people suspected of involvement in four suicide bomb attacks in the Turkish city of Istanbul last November. The Anatolia news agency said 50 of the suspects were already in custody, but it gave no details of the charges. More than 25 people were killed in car bomb attacks on two synagogues in the city last November. A week later, the British consulate and HSBC bank were targeted, killing at least 27 and injuring more than 400. Istanbul prosecutors are demanding life imprisonment for five of those allegedly involved in the attacks, according to a Turkish TV report. They are calling for sentences of up to 22 years imprisonment for 64 other suspects accused of being members of a terrorist group and aiding and abetting terrorists, according to NTV. Full Story
