SCO removes entry for its site from DNS

The systems administrator at The SCO Group has apparently done the public spirited thing by taking the entry for www.sco.com out of the public DNS in order to keep the denial of service traffic off the net, the security and web services company Netcraft says. Netcraft director Mike Prettejohn said in messages posted at the company’s website that on Sunday it looked as though the administrator at SCO was reserving his options by reducing the time for the company’s DNS cache to 60 seconds. SCO was expecting a denial of service attack on February 1 (US time) from the MyDoom.A worm which has infected hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide. Prettejohn said there may have been pressure on SCO from ISPs to reduce the storm of traffic which was expected to overwhelm the site and add to the congestion on the internet. Full Story
