The U.S. Supreme Court let stand on Tuesday the dismissal of a lawsuit against the U.S. government brought on behalf of more than 5,000 Kenyan citizens and businesses injured in the 1998 bombing of the American embassy in Nairobi. The lawsuit, which sought compensation for the Kenyan victims, claimed the United States negligently failed to secure the embassy and failed to warn of the potential for a terror attack. The Nairobi bombing and a truck bombing the same day, on Aug. 7, 1998, of the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania killed 224 people and injured more than 5,000 others.
