Eleven people were killed in militant attacks and gun battles in India’s Kashmir region Saturday and Sunday, police said. Separatist violence has continued in the Himalayan region despite recent peace initiatives between India and Pakistan and plans to begin formal talks to resolve disputes. The two countries have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir. A police spokesman said suspected guerrillas had shot dead a couple and a cable operator in separate attacks Sunday morning in Pulwama district, south of Srinagar. Full Story
