Police hurled tear gas canisters Wednesday to break up protests by opponents of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, and at least three demonstrators were shot and wounded. Protesters said the three were all university students and accused Aristide supporters of firing into a crowd of several hundred students as they fled the tear gas. Earlier, police lobbed tear gas as about 100 other demonstrators left the compound of the Convergence opposition alliance, forcing them to hurry back inside. Full Story
