Italian Defence Minister Antonio Martino warned of the threat of massive terror attacks following the capture of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. “After the arrest of Saddam Hussein, we cannot rule out the possibility that terrorists will respond with terrible attacks,” Martino told reporters Wednesday. “We have to live with the menace, but we should not let terrorists ruin our lives. “In the long term, the risk of attacks should diminish but we must be aware of all possibilities and take every measure to prevent them.” A November suicide bombing of Italy’s police base in the southern Iraqi down of Nasiriyah killed 19 Italians and nine Iraqis, the deadliest toll in a single attack against US-led forces in the country since Saddam was toppled in April.
