Burma’s military junta has reportedly announced a 27% increase in tourism during April to October against the same period of 2002. Human rights groups have urged tourists to boycott Burma since the junta overturned the 1990 election result. The regime said 277,647 tourists visited Burma during the six months, the Agence France Presse news agency reported. There are no independent figures on tourist arrivals. Full Story
