A U.S. peacekeeper was found dead with a gunshot wound in eastern Kosovo, the U.S. Army said Saturday. The soldier, identified as Sgt. Daryl Brooks, 43, was found in a concrete bunker inside the U.S. military base Camp Monteith on Thursday, said Sgt. William Houk, a U.S. military spokesman. Brooks was found by a soldier from the same unit, the Army said in a statement. No further details were available, but the statement said “the incident is under investigation.” Brooks, of Philadelphia, a personnel noncommissioned officer with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion 111th Infantry, is survived by his mother and two sisters, the statement added.
