The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr. Rod Pullen has stated that the British government would support and protect any democratically elected government in Africa, including Ghana from being overthrown through military coup d’etats. Addressing a joint press conference on board HMS GLASGOW, a British warship that has currently docked at the Takoradi port together with the commander of the ship, M. J. Wainhouse last Wednesday, Dr. Rod Pullen said it was because of this objective that his home government sent warships to Sierra-Leone recently to protect the democratically elected government in that country. Dr. Pullen further told the press that even the British government recently supported the government of Ghana with an amount of £3 million when it sent her troops to the Ivory Coast to protect the democratically elected government of President Gbagbo to ensure peace in that country. The High Commissioner who had earlier led the commander of the ship and some crew members to pay separate courtesy calls on the regional minister, Hon. Joseph Aidoo and some members of the Regional House of Chiefs, said Ghana was one of the few key countries that were reforming fast in a democratic way in Africa and the British government was proud of this achievement.
