Seven foreign oil workers including one Briton and at least one Australian have been kidnapped in Nigeria by militants demanding a ransom, diplomats and security sources said on Friday. The incident was the fourth kidnapping of oil workers this month in the southern Niger delta, an oil-rich region whose impoverished inhabitants have increasingly turned to violence to resolve their grievances. “Seven expatriates were kidnapped,” said a security source in Nigeria, adding that they had been abducted in the city of Warri.
