A teen-age Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up near Israeli forces in the West Bank Monday, just hours after militant group Hamas ruled out stopping all attacks on Israelis under any future truce deal. One soldier was slightly wounded in the incident. Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said he had held talks with Palestinian officials to build rapport for peace steps and that Israel aimed to ease its tight security grip on Palestinian areas which critics say has bred militant violence. Efforts to salvage a tattered U.S.-backed peace “road map” to peace in part on Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie forming a stable government after weeks of infighting. Qurie’s 30-day emergency mandate expires Tuesday but Monday meeting he had with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to resolve a paralyzing dispute over security powers to be held by his Cabinet ended inconclusively, officials said.
