So-called ‘blended threats’ pose the greatest danger to unprotected companies. Almost half of UK businesses have no technology in place to protect against common security attacks, according to research. And as many as 38 per cent have no plans to install systems to alleviate the dangers posed by the combined threat of hackers targeting software and network infrastructure, says a survey by McAfee Security. ‘Blended’ threats, like the Slammer and Blaster worms that struck earlier in the year, are the biggest danger, says Chris Thompson, vice president of product marketing at McAfee.
