India lays out Kashmir terms
Indian Deputy Premier LK Advani has said he will not compromise on India’s unity and sovereignty when talking to Kashmiri separatists. Mr Advani was named to talk directly with the separatists in a surprise announcement on Wednesday. It was followed by another one unveiling a series of steps to improve ties with long-time rival, Pakistan. Moderate separatists are still discussing Delhi’s offer, saying they will seek to build a consensus before any discussion. But hardliners in the divided separatist movement, as well as militant groups fighting Indian rule in Kashmir, have rejected the offer outright. Full Story
