Remorseful Bali bomber Ali Imron, sentenced to life in prison last week for helping plot and execute attacks on the island a year ago, has decided not to appeal against the sentence, his lawyer said on Thursday. But his brother Amrozi — the first person convicted in connection with the October 12, 2003 nightclub bombings in Bali’s tourist area of Kuta which killed 202 people — has filed a second appeal. Imron’s sentence was tougher than the 20-year term sought by Indonesian prosecutors even though Imron had expressed sorrow during his trial that his actions had killed innocent people and urged family and supporters not to imitate him.
