Frenchman Zacarias Moussaoui, the only person charged in the United States in the September 11 terror strikes, wants alleged terror chief Hambali to testify to his innocence, a court source said. According to a handwritten request from Moussaoui released by an Alexandria, Virginia court, such witness testimony “will destroy the ‘dream’ story of a plane on the White House” based on elements of the US investigation. US investigators believe one of the planes commandeered by hijackers September 11, 2001, which crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after a passenger revolt, was to head south for Washington, DC, the federal capital. “Brother Hambali must be produced live into Zacarias Moussaoui war to Crusader Trial,” reads the letter by Moussaoui who is in charge of his own defense. Hambali is believed to be the Asian pointman for the al-Qaeda group which is blamed for the September 11 attacks on the United States, and the operations chief of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), a Southeast Asian terror network accused of carrying out last October’s Bali bombings and a string of other attacks.
