Two Muslim American men pleaded guilty in U.S. District court on Thursday to charges they trained for a jihad and attempted to reach Afghanistan (news – web sites), prepared to “die as martyrs” fighting with the Taliban against the United States.
Brothers Ahmed Ibrahim Bilal, 25, and Muhammad Ibrahim Bilal, 23, agreed to cooperate with authorities in exchange for reduced sentences on two of the charges against them, according to an agreement read in court by U.S. District Judge Robert Jones. Last month another member of the so-called “Portland Seven,” West Bank-born software engineer Maher “Mike” Hawash, pleaded guilty in a similar plea deal with the government. Full Story
