Bones have been found in County Louth close to the spot where the IRA claims to have buried a woman it shot dead more than 30 years ago. Jean McConville, a mother-of-ten, was abducted from her west Belfast home in 1972, after she went to the aid of a fatally wounded British soldier outside her front door. The 37-year-old was one of the so-called Disappeared who were murdered by the IRA and secretly buried during the 1970s. On Wednesday, the gardai confirmed that what appeared to be human remains had been found by a man out walking with his children at Shilling Hill beach, near Carlingford. Superintendent Pat Magee said: “They appear to us to be human remains but at the moment I cannot confirm that they are until our forensic team, who should be on the scene, have taken a look.
