Bandits Attack State Governor

Armed bandits attacked the governor of Nigeria’s central Niger State, Abdulkadir Kure, killing his chief security aide and wounding another, a spokesperson said on Friday. The governor’s convoy was attacked on Thursday afternoon on the Abuja-Minna road by gunmen who engaged his aides in a shootout, Mahmud Abdullahi said. “The governor’s chief security officer, police inspector Mamman Shagabe, was shot dead defending him. His driver was also wounded,” he added. He said Kure was returning to the state capital Minna after an official assignment in the federal capital when he was attacked. Full Story
