Armed bandits attacked the governor of Nigeria’s central Niger State, Abdulkadir Kure, killing his chief security aide and wounding another, a spokesperson said on Friday. The governor’s convoy was attacked on Thursday afternoon on the Abuja-Minna road by gunmen who engaged his aides in a shootout, Mahmud Abdullahi said. “The governor’s chief security officer, police inspector Mamman Shagabe, was shot dead defending him.
