New Delhi is taking up the reduction of H1B visas for specialised workers with Washington since it will affect the movement of Indian software professionals to the US, Information Technology Minister Arun Shourie told Rajya Sabha on Thursday. The US has decided to reduce the quota of H1B visas from 1.95 lakh to 65,000 this year. “We are trying to pursue the matter,” said Shourie, replying to supplementaries during the question hour. To another question, he admitted there was a “backlash” in countries from where outsourcing jobs were being shifted to call centres in India. Full Story
